This video is pretty incredible… and from a vodka warehouse in Russia! Awesome! Seriously though, I do hope the driver is ok. Clearly, this little “bump” turned into a massive and dangerous problem. This is just another excellent example of the kinds of clips you can create at Redlasso.
Redlasso Closed Captioning
Oct 30
One very unique feature about Redlasso is that we actually support and carry the closed captioning content within nearly all of our TV Clips. This has some obvious search benefits, but let’s remember the reason Closed Captioning exists in the frist place. We are thrilled about the positive reaction we have been getting from people with hearing loss. We’re very happy to know that word is spreading within the community and that this serves as a very practical service for those who need this most.
I would also like to thank Bill Creswell for blogging about this feature here. He has a very interesting blog, “Bill Creswell - Captioning the Internet One Video at a Time”. It’s probably one of the most complete Closed Captioning resources I’ve ever seen, with tips about everything from the best captioned movies, TV, and internet sites / services available.
Here are some additional tips for you regarding our closed captioning features. To turn on and off the Closed Caption display in our player, just click the “CC” logo in the top right corner of our player. (You can try this in any of the clips below this post). There is also a cool new feature for our registered members. When you select a clip to play on the site, to the right of the player you will notice an “interactive caption” box. This will allow you to scroll and copy the closed caption content for easy quoting within your blog, plus, you can actually click on the words to jump to the different parts of the clip.
The Daily Hurricane
Oct 29
Here at Redlasso, we love to feature the bloggers that use Redlasso to add great video content to their blogs. As a registered user, you can do this too. I would encourage any of our users to email me (gil at redlasso.com ) and send us the latest posts… then we will either feature it here or try to featured it on our “As Seen On” section within the site. The post I’ll feature today is from “The Daily Hurricane” - The Daily Hurricane is devoted to news and views about politics, energy, health, science, education, current affairs, as well as national and international news.
They are a Houston based blog writing mostly about things that happen within “Hurricane Alley”. I lived in Houston once, and I know what that means… you are in the strike zone!
Make sure to check out their blog here: http://dailyhurricane.com/
Here is the video they posted, which by the way, looks like it was found or embedded via a great video site called http://www.magnify.net/ - check them out too!
Gene Simmons is Hilarious
Oct 23
Gene Simmons is a very unique individual. I know this first hand. In another life, I was lucky enough to work with Gene on an event that he hosted for me once. I have some really funny stories that I would be happy to share over a beer someday. If you are ever in Philadelphia, look us up! With all due respect to Gene, he was incredible… a little nuts… but incredible.
Gene was in classic form during this backstage interview with Fox 13 in Tampa Bay It takes less than 30 seconds for Gene to take control of the situation, I love it.
Thanks to Blabbermouth.net for posting this one. Blabbermouth Rules!
A Guided Tour of Redlasso
Oct 22
One of the most exciting but simple elements of officially launching Redlasso.com has been moving the site out from behind our splash page. We’re very excited about coming out from behind the magic curtain and showing off this great platform. For many, this site offers interaction with content and engagement with broadcast media that we have never seen before. It’s new and very exciting. In fact, a big thanks should go out to our forward thinking stations and content partners. As our users know, this isn’t just an “ordinary clip site”. This is about allowing a higher level of interactivity with content. Allowing a greater degree of flexibility, to allow the blogger to decide what it is they would like to search, clip and share on their blog post, all within a secure and controllable platform that the content owners can be comfortable with.
So how does Redlasso work? We would encourage you to sign up for an account on our homepage. And if you have a few minutes to spare, check out our new instructional video, it’s a great guided tour of Redlasso:
Philly Fans are Awesome
Oct 22
So I’m not a huge sports fan in general, but some of you may know that Redlasso is based out of Philadelphia, which is great. Philly is an killer town , a great place to live… and by far some of the best sports fans in the world. Philly is hard core when it comes to sports. Passionate and honest in our own loud kinda way. We often get a bad wrap too. Incidents like “booing and throwing snowballs at Santa” don’t really help our reputation either.
As many of you know, the Phillies just won the NLCS, and are World Series bound, which is Awesome… well, awesome if you are a Phillies fan of course. But maybe not so awesome for this guy. My guess is that he was probably “medicated” enough to not really care, and surely jacked up about the Phils’ winning, but from Philadelphia to Los Angeles and every city in-between, they were talking about this goofball.
Gotta love the Philly sports fan. If I met this guy tomorrow, I’d buy him a beer. There were other clips of this incident, but I like the way Good Day LA gave it to us, on repeat, over and over again…
Props to Perez Hilton on Twitter for spreading the word.
Thanks to www.Yardbarker.com for posting too.
That’s right! We are live! I must admit, it’s taken me a day or so to fully recover from the “wonders and magic” of Las Vegas, but our fun trip out west had a very exciting purpose, to officially re-launch Redlasso.com. To make sure we don’t break something, we are going to be notifying the users gradually, but rest assured… if you were a previous beta user, or if you’ve been waiting to get your invite… they are coming very soon. We are very excited to announce that we are launching with over 100 licensed TV and Radio sources; from Los Angeles to New York, from Dallas to Atlanta - there is at least one TV news source in every one of the top 50 US cities. If you dont see your town represented yet, we are adding new sources every week… so stay tuned! Please see the press release here.
We officially launched, live from Blogworld 2009 / New Media Expo. It was awesome. We met so many great people. New members, new business partners. It was fantastic. Here are some great pictures too!
Thanks for reading the Redlasso blog! Check it out for all the latest feature updates, site news, content and member features.
So, welcome to the Redlasso blog my friends. A work in progress. What will you find here you ask?
You’ll find some great TV and Radio content . We’ll be featuring not only our favorite clips, but also links to some great blogs and websites that will be using the Redlasso platform. We hope to give props to our users and feature some of the great articles and discussions that take place every day on the web.
You’ll get the inside scoop on our progress and developments at Redlasso. We’ll make announcements here, and share good news about our friends, clients and users.
Solutions. We’ll probably find room here on the blog to comment on the latest on-line video industry news and how we can contribute to your growth and success.
I’m sure there will be other random thoughts as well… so stay tuned.
As for the video here? Well, this family is pretty brave. Even if they were kind enough to invite me for dinner, there is no way in hell I would sit at that dinner table. I would rather eat my lunch, not be lunch.
The Huffington Post also thought this video was cool… check it out here:
